Default Putting together new system/Opinions?

Like every one else, I'm tired of the stock stereo system in the Z. The stock system that was in my 03 Tiburon GT (totaled) is better than what we have!!, that car was $12,000 less! OK, so here is my plans so far: I'm getting Mike's under strut bar box which is rated at .73 cu ft of air space, 2 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 1 150W(each) Subs that reqiure .5-1.0 cu ft of air space, Rockford Fosgate 300W amp (P3002), a Alpine componet set (have'nt decided which yet), and a double din HU that has a cd changer built into it, which I have yet to find, do they exist? So any opinions would be appreciated! Will those 2 10"s sound good in such a small box? Will that be enough power from the amp, or should I go higher? I dont know that much about audio, so yeah, tell me what you think.

- Not too sure if they make a double DIN aftermarket HU with built in CD changer. I've never seen one.
-call Fosgates tech line and find out the sub cu. air displacement. the back of the woofer will displace air. Need to subtract this from the volume of box. As long as the difference is still within the .5 to 1.0 range you should be alright.
-make sure that the amp rating is equivalent to the ohm load that your subs are rated at. Alot of people get confused(not saying that you are) and buy an amp that is rated at : example 300 watts @ 2ohms x 2, but their subs have 4ohm voice coils. Now instead of getting 300watts out of that amp, you'll be getting 150watts.
-Do not go with the P3002. Rockford makes excellent amps. You need another model. Class-D amps are the way to go for subs. Class A/B amps for mids and highs. D-amps run more effieciently with lower power consumption. This will increase battery and alternator life. The P3002 is rated @ 150watts x 2 @ 2ohms. Your subs come in 2 models: 4ohm SVC or 8ohm SVC. If you buy the 4ohm speakers and hook 1 speaker per chan, only be pushing 75watts per chan(this will under push them). On the other hand, it is possible buy the 8ohm subs, hook them in parellel with each to drop a 4ohm load. The amp can be bridged to run 300watss x 1 @ 4ohms. This would deliver 150watts to each sub..... You are better off buying a class-D amp @ a slightly higher power rating that what your subs call for. Remember that the last 25% of the amp gain is distortion. Your highest/cleanest power band is going to be @ 75% of the gain turned up.
-Make sure to Dynomat your entire trunk and hatch. It will rattle like crazy.
-2 tens will sound good. I have 1 twelve(fosgate t112d4) I have my amp bridged on 2ohms with 800RMS. It pounds extremely hard. I had to place 2 layers of Dynomat in the trunk. The little brake light on the upper portion of the hatch glass will have to be siliconed to the glass also. It will rattle like crazy.
-As far as mids and highs, I can't comment on Alpines. I have Infinity Kappas.
.......Hope this helps.

Could you recommend the best Fosgate Amp to go with the subs I,m getting? I dont know how to tell a class D amp apart from any other.

Edit: I checked Crutchfield, and they dont have a D-Class Fosgate amp.

some manufacturers will call their Class-D amps "B/D amps". Go to the Fosgate web site. You'll find some amps, as well as specs. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/home/index.asp ..
P.S. Sorry it takes so long for me to get back with you. I only have internet access at work.

You can P.M. if you want. I have alot of good info. I built my entire system. Took a whole lot a research and asking questions. I'm not a professional, but have a pretty good idea of how everything works. Later.
