even if i lift up the box, it wont fix the fact that it's not wide enough. and unless it's super plush extra thick duper carpet, it's not gonna fix the huge gap.
maximz> how far back can you push yours? I can push mine really far back (towards front of car). I can get about half the box past the strut.

One remedy would be to go to Home Depot, and get some black rolled foam door insullation. Place that around the perimeter, and you'll get a look like the foam that surrounds a sub cone.
Next, go to a carpet store and get some Jute (nylon fiber carpet underlayment - not that foam crap.) Use your carpet as a template, cut it out, and stick it in your trunk under the carpet. You'll get a good .5 inch lift, plus the extra sound proofing.
Lastly, you could also make a couple of wedges, glue those to the bottom as well to get a little lift and mounting pressure.
I ordered mine last week. Guess I'll see how bad it is in a couple more weeks . . .
If you're creative and attentive to details, you can get it to look nice. I may be singing another tune though when I get mine

Just revieved notification yesterday that mine is on the way. I'm not having the super-lag time between payment and shipping that others have reported . . .
In 5 days I'll post pics to show my fitment. That's when it should arrive.
(hey Onii - I used to be from Pittsburgh - born and raised in Belle Vernon. How's the potholes and 45 MPH highway speed limits treating your Z - I prefer the 85 MPH average highway speeds of Cali myself )

I got my sub box Tuesday. Took a long time from Florida to California via USPS. It's really well made, although I had to cut out a 2" x 5" strip on the inside in order to accomodate my Infiniti Perfect 10.1 sub. Fit is tight under the bar, although you do seem to get a bit of a lip since the strut bar is rounded over. The sub is square edged - so putting something square against a rounded edge makes a lip. But its really minor. It is about 1/4 inch longer than the strut bar, so it does stick out a bit in the back, but I can live with it.
Sound wise - its HEADS AND TAILS above the box I had installed behind my seat in the stock location. My base is rich and deep - and WAY louder. I'm so glad I bought it.
I wonder if the ill fitting is due to a (not yet noticed) size change that may have occured on the strut bar between the 03 and 05 - it may be minor, and we may not notice it, but the template may be designed for 03 . . . just a theory.
I'm going to take a trip to Home Depot and see if I can find a wedge-shaped door insullation that I could put around the perimeter - that should polish off the look.

There's no size difference between the 2003-2005 rear strut bar assembly. I had a 2005 over yesterday for an install and it was identical.
I am curious about the 2006 though. I kinda hope they do change it so we can maybe have some new options for enclosures in the Z.
