Default How's the stock Nav?

How's the stock Nav? is it fast? is there a women's voice telling you to turn left/right? I understand it's based on DVD, so will the dealer send you a new DVD every year, or i'll have to buy it?

The navigation is SWEET! Definately worth the extra $$. Not only for the guidance but b/c everyone who gets in your car is like ! Half the people just want to talk about how cool the Nav is (including my girlfriend). It has a cool "birds-eye view" and a flat or over the top view like on mapquest.com . It also displays a graph that tells you when you need to get an oil change. It's really cool knowing exactly how many miles you are from your destination!

Thumbs up My Toy Within My Toy

I refer to my NAV as my toy within my toy. Works find. I am amazed how accurate it is. I'm looking forward to using it on my next trip. I'll use the shortest route. That will probably put me on narrow, curvey two lane roads . . . yeah baby.

Does it makes stupid choice? ie ask you to turn left in a no left turn intersection?

Will you auto route another path if you didn't follow it's way?

And lastly, does the DVD include the whole NA, or just Canada/USA?

Thanks for replying my (stupid) question, because i was about to get a 350Z and would like to know it i should get the only option: Nav.

(Here in Canada, only 3 trims: Performance, Touring, and Track. I was going to get Touring (Auto) since it'll be my everyday car)

Thumbs up NAV Very Accurate to the Point of Amazing

himura816,

I have had no problems with the NAV giving incorrect information. To the contrary, I was surprised at how accurate the voice directions are. It has even handled complex interchanges very well. I have used the NAV for aprox. 400 miles (total of 700+ on 350Z’s odometer). It does get a little confused when you travel on a new section of highway that has not been updated on the software.

The reroute works well. If you make a wrong turn or miss your turn, the system will bring this to your attention. If you do not back track to its selected route, it will notify you when you get to the next intersection that will carry you back to your route or reroute you to your final destination if that is nearer of quicker depending on your selected choice for routing.

I do not have the manual in my hand as I write this, so I do not know whether it covers Canada, but the one DVD does cover the United States (48 states).

All-in-all I find the NAV system to be very accurate to the point of amazing. I have used a GPS connected to a laptop computer and it was not nearly as impressive or as accurate. I think you will be pleased with the NAV. It is an expensive toy for me, but if you travel a lot it may be well worth the money.
