Default Part 2: McIntosh CD changer + preamp

I finally decided I needed a CD changer, and was also sick of the terrible SQ of the stock head unit. However, I wanted to keep the stock look. So, I got the McIntosh MCD4000 changer + MD4000 display controller/preamp unit.

Street Noyz installed the display controller in the NAV slot, so I could pull the door down stealth-style. The CD changer went behind the passenger seat, in the same location as the dealer one, but with a brushed aluminum panel to match the interior. The brains of the unit, the McIntosh preamp, went behind the driver's seat, specially-mounted in the Bose sub location.

Cool

Once again . . . a professional installation. When I think McIntosh, I think classy . . . you know just classy . . . a little old school. They make some classy amps too. Having followed the development of your system on this forum, I must admit, this is truely a superior car audio system. The only improvement I can suggest now, other than tuning and tweaking to the frequency response you desire, is digital time-delay processing to delay those left channel signals and produce true fusion of stereo imaging at the driver's ears. Further, if you have any competition aspirations, I have no doubt that this system, with the proper tuning, could be an award-winning system at IASCA competitions.
