Seattle - area car stereo installers?
Hey all,
I'm running into some sticker shock regarding a sound system upgrade for my 2004 Roadster. I think we're all in agreement that the stock Bose system is fairly pathetic. I went to two local Car Toys outlets to see what they could do for me. All I really want is to add some Infinity Kappas in the doors and improve the existing 10" sub behind the seat. I'd just take those rear speakers out of the loop...who needs 'em?
All in all, to install the Kappas, install a 4-channel Eclipse amp under the passenger seat and throw in a JL Audio subwoofer (free-air install)...they wanted about $1100.
I just about flipped. I had no idea that installation labor was so spendy. (I'm not saying it's unreasonable; just that I had no idea.)
Question: Let's say I got the speakers and amp online. Are there any reputable companies around Seattle who could do the installation for me?
Any other thoughts?
Thanks!!!

If you buy the components yourself, it may be harder to find someone who will install it for you. They typically prefer that you buy the components through them, unless it's something they don't sell.
I have a couple connections with installers at Car Toys (used to be my roommates when I lived there). They are very good installers, and are often willing to do side-work. If you are interested, send me a pm and we can talk.
Hey everyone! I'm getting that itch to tinker with my new(er) Z roadster. The problem is, I know I should leave the tinkering to the pro's. So, can I get a recommendation on a stereo installer in the Seattle area? Maybe a small shop or side-work that the installer will stand behind. Spoken like a true former Car Toys customer, (felt that I was $$ squeezed by them on another car).
The OEM Bose system is just pathetic. I've yet to buy anything, but I'm thinking of converting the Bose HU to line out with a PAC converter, add a 4 channel amp, Infinity components up front, coaxials in the rear and a Basslink.
So, looking to buy some equipment and certainly looking for the installer.
Thanks!
