Default V1 Saved My A$$ Again

I was returning from the Turbonetics meet and coming downhill from the 118 at about 65 to 70 mph when my Valentine One picks up laser. I know laser is instant on and that I was dead. I slow down aggressively to 45, look ahead and see a motorcycle cop ahead and another cop with a pulled over car.

The cop that was in front of me starts riding over towards me and I see this silly shit-eating grin on his face. I know he's got me and he knows it too as evident by his damn smile. As he passes me and starts making a left, I pull over. He pulls into a driveway behind me and to my right. I wait. And, I wait. Then I realize, he's not going to pull up to me. He's letting me go!

I don't know if it's because I slowed down or because I had pulled over well in advance of him coming to get me, probably the former but what ever the case, he let me off. I take off, keeping an eye on the rear view mirror and he's still not there. Yes!

Anyways, this is the second or third time it's saved my hide. It's paid for itself. I highly recommend this detector.

How did it save you? Seems that the cop just had a change of heart, which he could have had even if you didn't have a V1. After all, you would have slowed down just as quickly upon seeing the two cops as you did when V1 went off.

+1

Saving you would be if your laser shifter blocked it until you could slow down, or if you picked it up in advance...

Had I not had the detector, I wouldn't have slowed down. Ticket for certain.

You'd think I'd see the cops better coming downhill, instead, it had the opposite effect. I didn't see them until much later and after my detector was going off for awhile.

You should read this article. Once you are hit by laser it is to late.

^^^ +1. There is a very slim chance of beating the laser, and that too only if you can catch it bouncing off the asphalt or other cars. If it's aimed at you, 9/10 times you'll be toast. Even diffusers don't help at close range.
