Good news! They finally decided to listen to the customers and stopped censoring their music!! I guess they got out of their contract with Sprint?

Thank God! When I read about the censoring I was disappointed to say the least. I've always used XM, but I can't find a double din LCD screen that is XM compatible, they all seem to be for Sirius.

Yes, all is good now. For a few weeks I was calling Sirius at least 1-2 times per day complaining about the censoring.

But it's all good now!

Absolutely! I moved over for Stern, and I am certain that they are going to make every penny back and then some. This is the decision that is going to make Sirius the winner in my book. Stern is HUGE - and everyone is going to see just how huge on the 16th when he takes his walk through Manhattan. They are going to have to close down that whole part of the city. Remember the Yankees and the A-ROD trade? They made their money back the first day.

However, I have been very disappointed with Sirius I must say. The technology just isn't ready. I have a terrible time getting a strong and consistent signal in my home, and the boombox that I thought I would be able to move around my house stays against the wall with the antenna routed all the way into the backyard.

Default Sirius Installation

On another Sirius note, I am trying to figure out how to install my JVC Satellite Tuner in my Z so that I can easily take it in and out of the car. I am not even sure if it will fit in the nav cubby (that is not totally ideal for me because I would like to eventually put a monitor in there) so I was wondering if anyone else on the site has mounted this unit anywhere else in the car.

This is the unit below:

Thanks.

To fit in the cubby, I changed to the STARMATE. It is very small and fits easily. No base is needed.

I am afraid I am stuck with the JVC Unit for now. I don't want to commit to anything because I know there will be better units out soon (portable), and I don't want to go through the hassle of returning all of the equipment I've purchased (I have the boombox too). I think I will likely just go with a different mounting option, maybe in the center glovebox. I am going to eventually mount a monitor in the nav cubby for GPS, so maybe its for the best. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I got a myfi for Xmas, so I'll be going to XM. I have it on directv now, and actually like it, so I'm looking forward to getting satellite radio since I got rid of my POS Chrysler.

I don't have your unit but I have my Starmate, and also the Sportster mounted to a Kuda phone base. I use 2 RAM mounts (one for the radio base and one to attach to the Kuda phone base. I then use a 2" RAM arm to control the angle of the unit. Sorry, I don't have pics now but if you want to see my mount, PM me.
I find that works the best for me as I also mount my Sirius unit on my motorcycle. The RAM mount makes it incredibly easy to mount in multiple vehicles.

I definitely would like to see your mounted radio - because now I am wondering what else I can do. I just bought one of those Kuda mounts as well, but that one is for my Treo 650. I was thinking of getting one of the "arm" mounts like this one: click for link

I wonder - what do you think of just getting an additional Kuda and having both of them side by side? I wonder if that will get too cluttered. Hmmmmm

Nope, the side by side would impede into passenger leg room. Take a look here: http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/RAM/?Item=RAM for all of the many mounts available. I use a Proclip mount and holder for my phone. Check out www.proclipusa.com They make a Treo holder. There's also a mount for the Z. I use it and it looks great, very easy install and no drilling necessary. Nothing to take apart either. I don't like stull all over the place and these two types of mounts are clean and functional yet don't make the interior cluttered. I recommend the proclip over the gooseneck mount.

Default Sirius Install

I've decided to forget about taking the receiver in and out of the car - and just get an extra Sirius subscription, and hard wire it to my Pioneer head unit. The 2nd subscription is half price, though I still think that is a rip off to make you do that. Oh well, at least the install will be totally clean and I can hide the Pioneer brains in the glove box or something. If I wasn't going to have my cellphone mounted there also, I would probably do it, but I don't want my passenger to smack the assembly with his leg every time.

Hi, I just had the factory Sirius unit installed at the dealer in my new 05 touring model, the installation looks really clean, since it is integrated with the bose unit and the only wire you will see is the one sneeking through the hatch, very neatly. However, so far I am disappointed with the sound quality, to me it doesn't sound nearly as good as a CD does. The sound is flatter and duller sounding. Am I missing something, like that is actually how digital audio is supposed to sound or what? Does anyone else have a similar experience? The cost was about $450 at the dealer, just for the factory equipment and the install...

Default Sirius Factory Installation

$450 sounds kinda high - I saw the equipment and labor that is actually needed to install in the G35, and it seems to add up to a bit less; though I suppose all dealers overcharge for labor. I guess sometimes it is worth paying a little more for guaranteed work however.

Instructions for factory installation

Hardware Needed

As far as the signal is concerned, do you know if it was hard wired to the stereo of if you are using the FM modulator? I am planning to hook it up with a direct line - which is definitely better than relying on the FM radio signal which you might be doing. If you have to tune your radio to an obscure FM radio station like 88.9, then you know. Also it is possible that the signal isn't very clear to the Sirius satellite. I am having a tremendous amount of trouble getting a clear signal from my home (I think I wrote about this above); though I am told it is better in the car than at home, and that some regions of the country have better reception than others. I would investigate just a little more, maybe call Sirius. You shouldn't have to deal with bad reception after investing that much money and paying for a monthly subscription.

Sirius radio is great. Ive had it for a while now and I like alot of channels they have to offer.
I like channel 33 for my techno needs. I also listen to alot of 80s music so channel 8 is great for that. The pulse is a good channel and of course hits 1 is good.
I used to listen to stars 103 but radio chick jumped ship so I dont listen to that much anymore. Jay thomas is good on that channel but i figured i can do without all the talk until howard comes.
Howard will bring a ton of new listeners to sirius and the money they paid him is well worth it for the people he will bring and also for name reconition. Everyone will know what sirius is just because of him.
I just wish they would make a s50 that would do live content without being docked.
Thats my only complaint.

Rumor has it that a truly portable Sirius unit is about 6 months away. They messed up by not having this ready in time for Howard, and lagging behind XM, but it's coming. The S50's release just says to me that they brought the best they had (closest to actually being portable) to market in time for this rush -
