Question about mounting amp in factory sub space
I want to put my amplifier in the subwoofer space (I don't have bose) and I was wondering if I can use any of the metal in there as ground connection?
Also does anyone have a picture of inside that space they could post? I remember one a long time ago, but can't find it.
Basically I want to set up a piece of plywood in there, somehow using existing holes and brackets to fasten it down. Then mount the amplifier / distribution block / capacitor on the plywood. It doesnt have to look pretty because nobody is gonna see it really, but I want it to be very secure.

This is what they did in my sub space. Although they made a fiberglass enclosure in there first, it may give you an idea of the space. The shelf holding the crossovers is plexiglass. I'm not sure about the ground but I really don't think you'll have a problem finding one.

As far as door clearance, just like most speakers, they did need a spacer which they incorporated into a "box" they made for the doors. They also did a little metal cutting, but I don't believe that it was really necessary for most applications. You can also see in the picture that they have removed the tweeter from the speaker, and that has been relocated where the stock tweeter was (no picture yet). Finally they are making new grills for the woofers as the stock Nissan grills are not very "transparent" due to most of the perforations being filled in. Here's a picture that may help you.
