I know this is possible
I'm looking into a new HU for the Z but I've been reading some different things about the speaker setup in the car and i'm not quite sure what it all means...
Simple question:
If I replace the HU with, say, the pioneer DVD/Nav setup, all I'd do is plug the existing speakers into the head unit. right?
and if I want to use the stock sub, I can just plug that line into the HU's output as well since there's an amp incorporated in the sub?
The part that i'm sketchy about is down the line, when I want to replace the stock sub with 2 10's and an amp. As I understand it, there's an amp build into the sub housing back there? can I use the existing wiring to the sub behind the driver's seat to hook up a better amp, then just run wires to the subs in the back?
Sounds like a pretty simple operation since I'm not replacing the stock speakers (yet).
Am I way off?

I just replaced the HU in my 2003 "Tour" with the Eclipse AVX2494. Besides the AVX2494, the installer installed 350Z Dash Kit from Crutchfield, plus 4ch Adjustable Line Output Converter and Harness from Peripheral Electronics. Everything else remained stock, to include speakers. The sound is GREAT! Bose nolonger "Blows"!
