Install Complete - Dimmer Wire Issue
So thanks to everyone on this board I completed my first complete install on my Z. I put in a farenheit 7" screen, JVC DV5100 DVD/R/RW/CD HU, and have the wiring all set for my sub/amp when my Kappa 10VQ arrives.
The system rocks and thanks for the boards parking break wire workaround - ""watched" matrix reloaded on my way to work this morning!
One issue bugs me though - I spliced the illumination control wire from my HU(orange) into the one from the stock harness(orange) and now my dimmer doesn't work at all for the entire car! One of my favorite things was being able to turn off the interior lights when driving on the highway.
Also thanks to "Zenclosure" Mike who lives around the corner and is always willing to help me out! He is a standup guy and his boxes are top quality.

Orange?
The stock Nissan wire colors are Red w/blue (illumination switch) and Red w/yellow (illumination control). Are you using a wiring harness adapter of some sorts? The only orange wire in the Nissian stock audio system is (-) terminal to the sub-woofer out of the stock Bose amp behind the passenger.
Check your wiring and try the Red with yellow stripe wire in the factory harness.
You could hook up a volt meter to that wire and click the lights on and off and then dim and raise the illumination to see that the voltage moves along with the switch.
