Whats best for me?? help me out please!!
I am going to be getting a 350Z enthusiast this weekend, and I have a few questions on upgrading the stereo.
This is what I want to do. get a double din headunit w/ nav. (eclipse, kenwood, or pioneer) and then get a single 10" sub/amp. and maybe some new component speakers. and integrate my Ipod video into it as well somehow.
my question is this, will the system sound ok if I dont add an amp for the component speakers?? also do I need to add more speakers since I dont have the bose system?? I dont need to listen to stereo extremely loud, but I like to turn it up once in a while
I also really only listen to rock music.
also what in your opinon would be the best head unit to get for my needs. It must have Nav, and be able to hook my Ipod video into it!!
thanks

Most head-ends will claim upto 50 watts worth of power - or about 20-22 watts of true honest power. That's enough to make a bunch of noise given efficient speakers. The only place you might need more power is with a power hungry subwoofer which if driven by the head-end isn't going to thump you.
In my experence you can't "hear" an amplifier. One good 100w amp sounds like the next. That's not saying that a low quality $39.00 1200 watt SparkCo amplifier is going to sound the same as a $1200 40 watt one made by Zappco.
There is a big sweet spot between the two and you're not going to notice the difference in a car. If you're looking for a subwoofer amplifier pick one of the companys that makes dedicated ones with built-in crossovers, Infrasonic filter/subsonic filter, and a remote gain.
Have a look at the JL audio, Rockford Fosgate, and Infinity ones IMHO. They're not competition quality amplifiers nor are they poor quality.
