Smile Hardwiring Passport 8500 with Mike's Mount

Well, I finally got around to having my mechanic pal hardwire my Passport 8500 using Mike's Mount. The setup is definitely pretty tight, but I can still remove my radar detector if I happen to visit an extremely shady neighborhood in my car. I will post pictures soon. I am just glad to be rid of a dual cigarette lighter input I was using for my radar and XM. Now I can just plug in the XM and there isn't a cable stretching between me and my passenger.

Sorry for posting the pictures so late. Digital camera battery was pretty much dead. I will try to post some daytime shots soon since I just washed my car too. Enjoy! The wiring for the radar is tied into the wiring for the rear view mirror. Since Passport sells such a long wire, the rest is tucked into the the ceiling of the car.

You can do a forum search for "mike's mount" to find more pictures of the install. Here's his contact info (his e-mail is also his paypal account). He charges $20 for the kit. You have to buy the hardwire kit separately.

Let me know how your install goes! This is definitely much better than stretching the radar wire across the car between driver and passenger!

Certainly not in states where they are legal (like mine).
