Default Center Dash/Radio Removal

I found some great pics here on how to remove the radio (center dash) but in the 1st pictures they show a manual transmission and I have an automatic. Do I remove the aluminum ring around the shifter 1st then pull up on the gray plastic... Thanks

Pull off the silver plastic ring, then pull the black plastic toward the back of the car. Once it unsnaps, you have to pull it up over the round plastic that holds the gearshift. It also helps to remove the gearshift ****. That's easy, pull down on the silver sleave. There's a cotter pin holdin on the shift ****, remove that and the **** comes right off. Then it's easier to remove the black plastic that holds the temp controls, don't forget to remove the white plastic connection for the temp controls. There's also a write-up in the "audio" forum.
