Why DVD / TV in a car?
This is NOT a troll or a flame. I just don't get it.
Ok, if you have kids I can see having a TV to keep them entertained on a long trip.
But I see a LOT of people here getting video setups or video games and spending big $.
Can you tell me the scenario when you use these? I am not trying to be a wise ***, I am just asking.

Why climb Mt. Everest? Because it's there, and because you can.
Well, I can't, but I can install a video system in my Z.
I, like many guys, am a gadget/electronic freak, having a vehicular movie theater fits in with all that. You can't say that you've never had to wait in the car for somebody before, or that you've been stuck in traffic (not that you should have the screen on while you're driving). Heck, I've had to sleep in the car a few times before, that would have been a lot more fun with a DVD player, actually, even more fun with some blankets...brrrr!

Top 5 Reasons why I am getting a DVD player in my car:
#5 No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get a VCR to fit in the dash.
#4 My Base model’s cabin is SO boring. I don't have flashy peddles, cruise control, electric seats, auto dimming rearview mirror or even a lighted vanity mirror!
#3 Practice Makes Perfect-The best way to acquire those "stunt driving skills" on BMW Films is to "watch and drive" over and over.
#2 My wife no longer lets me watch porno in the house!
And the #1 reason to have a DVD player installed in my car: Caddyshack! (note my avatar)

Actually (all joking aside) I am having a DVD system installed more for the sound. There are quite a few music DVDs out there with Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks that makes full use of the surround sound technology now available, and is really the only reason I can see to upgrade/use the rear speakers. The video is just an added bonus (I had to have a screen for the Nav unit) and really don't have any plans to watch a movie as I drive.
I just DONT like the boring empty space that not having navi leaves behind. I already had the screen from my last car, and installed it. I figure that since i take 2+ hour drives every once in a while out to a few old college friends, it would make time pass quicker if i had a movie playing in the background during the trip. No, i will most likely NOT be watching it, but it will be playing and the audio will be on. Thank god for that pocket cover flap, jsut shut it so im not tempted to actually look at the movie, just listen to it. Definitely its more there for my passenger if i take a long trip with someone else so they dont get bored, and maybe for during my lunch breaks at work too. I like having the tv tuner built in the screen so i can turn on the local news channel on my way to work too.
