Default old laptop -> car computer

so I have an old laptop laying around the house. I would like to put this laptop in the glove compartment, hook it up to an LCD touch screen, put the touch screen in that open space we have in the center of our cars. Also maybe hook up one of those gps things to the computer, maybe listen to music from the laptop, so somehow hook it up to the car stereo system. I have the base stereo, and suggestions? What would I even buy? How would I get started? How does one get the power hooked up?

Much Appreciated

Jon

yes.. for base stereo would be a fm modulator... which sucks... cant get the full sound you want... i would settle on a cheap headunit with an aux input.... and for the power you should get a good watt power suply, etc.. and need to wire etc... its really a big process...

Here is what I did for my carputer.
I took and old laptop and took of the screen.
Got a power inverter
Took both, laptop and power inverter and put it under the drivers seat.
I made a tray out so the laptop doesn’t slide around.

OK now to the screen:
Put a touch screen in.
Power to screen to a fuse
Run all the wires (VGA, USB) under the carpet from the dash to under the seat.

Then for the sound I just took a tape and ran it to the computer. No wires seen and no messing fm modulators

Don't do any of the above suggestions unless you want a new head unit this will work great

this gadget only works for the radios that don't have the sat button. What year is your car, tell me and I will help you along.
