Factory sub swap
Ok, I have a question.
A friend of mine has the Touring, hence has the Bose w/the 10" sub. He is getting a custom enclosure system in the hatchback, and is going to let me have the Bose 10". What all would be involved for me to make it work in the empty factory location in a different Z? Will it need a seperate amp, or can it run off the factory one? Also, would I be able to use his mounting hardware?
Thanks

Dude, you're getting hosed. The factory Bose sub is a piece of crap. Why do you think many people are interested in replacing it. For free, it might not be bad, but I think a cheap ($100-$150) aftermarket sub would be loads better.
While you're at it, I've got a nice Bose amp I could sell you to match your sub if you'd like.

On a serious note, if you really want to do this, the mounting shouldn't be too hard, but you will need a separate amp, I'm pretty sure your radio/amp will not be able to supply the sub (ie. only has 4 channels).

...if you think the sub is cheap...wait until you see the Bose sub AMP...its the puniest, piece of plastic crap I have ever seen. I assume its a digital amp, but man, they really screwed us Touring owners trying to dish off that "Premium" Bose junk on us...
