No holes and remote sensor on Farenheit monitor....
Alternative to cutting holes in the Nav compartment for remote sensor.
I took a two foot optical cable sliced off one end with razor blade and taped the cut off end to the remote sensor on the Farenheit.
Rerouted it under the dash.
Relocating the sensor itself from the monitor would probably work too...but I not comfortable enough with a soldiering iron to be working on a circuit board.

That's pretty ingenious, though I don't understand exactly how it works. Whats on the end of the cable that you didn't cut, and did you tape the other end to the sensor on the front of the monitor, or somewhere on the rear circuit board?
Thanks
It just a connector...too bulky that's reason I cut it off.
I taped it on the side of the monitor between the case and circuit board. The cut end has to face the pea size sensor on the inside of the circuit board because it's works on infrared. Stuff it between the glass-like tube and sensor. tape it down at the sensor and again at the bottom corner by the screw.

Ok. I get it.
And the end you didn't cut, you attached under the dash somewhere, and just point the remote at it?
I know you didn't want to cut any holes, but maybe another idea would be to cut a small hole on the piece of the compartment that the nav lid closes onto.
if you ever removed the install, i bet a replacement one of those pieces would only be a couple bucks. (Unless they wouldn't break that one piece out from some larger replacement nav compartment kit).
I thought that small piece would be a good area to mount any control switches needed for something or other.

-yep, exactly.
-Good idea. Using the small trim piece ran through my head when I was installing it. There plenty of room underneath. If I had a piece in advance of the install, I might have used it. It shouldn't cost more than a few bucks...Courtesy sell the whole sub enclosure for like less than $6 and that's a lot bigger.
