check the pioneer website and see whats out there.. i would try to get more current units. But for 1200, i would rather get a double din touch screen than a flip out one.

Don't get a flip out. It's an overpriced technical compromise and the motor screen is likely to break. Those GPS HUs are a scam since once you are locked in the map update disk are $500! Instead get a non-video HIFI single DIN (Kenwood Excelon XXV-01D) for $450 and a Garmin street pilot. Then you have no compromises with the best sound and mapping performance. Save watching videos for the home couch and drive safely.

It's your car, get whatever style you want. There's certainly a few out there in the price range you're looking for. Personally I'm a Clarion fan. I think for the money you'll get the best sound quality from them. They've got a new one, the VRX765VD with onscreen ipod controls and everthing. Plenty of inputs for whatever else you wnat o hook up to it. It goes for right at $1000. Check out their website for more info on their models. They've got a lot of nice HUs.

From those three it's an easy choice, ALPINE. Their CDA-9855 is sweet! If you gotta have video to keep the baby from crying get their DVA-9860 with a hard screen for <$800!

Alpine +1.... Alpine is the best mobile video stuff out there. I have an Alpine IVA-D300 and the picture is second only to the IVA-D900 & 901. Go with Alpine, you will not be dissapointed.

This is what I run. I have the 9860 in the dash with the screen in my cubby. Also adding the Alpine Nav unit in soon. I love the flexability with Alpine and the AiNet inputs.

Using a hard screen eliminates noise coupling risk between the screen and music preamp for the best fidelity. Select a screen quality that fits your budget and it's much more durable (as in cheaper!) than a mechanical flipout.

The only good thing about a flipout is it's stealth, other than that they suck.
