Question how to? terminals for custom box?

Alright, all my boards are finally cut for my vented box, and later this week I will resume working on it. I've been reading a lot online about sealing the box and cutting the speaker hole ect.... I've learned a lot but I still have one question..

When I wire up the sub where is the best place to make a hole for the wire to come out of the box?

Most internet sites say the rear wall: then use a glued up terminal from radio shack, or tie the wire in a knot, pull it tight to your drilled hole and glue it up.

Is tying the speaker wire in a knot really a good idea? There has to be a better way (I’m not electrician but I’m pretty sure crossing the wires and tying them tight isn’t good). I know banana clips are prime, but I will not be putting this sub in another car and wouldn't mind saving the ten bucks on the clips anyway.

Anyway so how do you run the wire out of the box?

I would get binding posts and drill a hole in the box just big enough for them to push through with some force. To make sure there are no leaks put some silicone around the outside before you push them in to seal it up good.

I have no idea what binding posts are... but I'm off to goggle to look them up I suppose.

Edit: This looks like my best bet... I bet they are an arm and a leg at the local radio shack though. I guess any 2 that are 16-14g are sufficient right?

Just run the wire directly into the box and seal with silicone

Radio Shack won't have any that are long enough to go through the box if you built a sturdy one.
Try these...

Let me know if you have any questions. I am busy with work this week but try to check mail late at night.
Good luck.
