got an Infinity Basslink installed in my 02 Xterra SE S/C....a few weeks ago I was driving to work, ran fine...Came out for lunch a few hours later and it was dead..Was receiving power, fuses fine...just no sound.


SO, I order up another unit....open it up, install and it works perfect......


then I get to thinking..."hmmm, maybe I should just try the other one for fun..."


swapped em, worked PERFECT!





On my way to work today it was acting up a little....Every so often the bass w0ould just cut out, then within 4-5 seconds it would fade back in and work perfect for awhile....


any ideas?

 

battery power problems?

 

connection is in-tact at the battery......will clean the connection tonite....



got into car for lunch today, dead.....drive for 5-6 blocks and it came on again....WTF!?!?!

 

bad ground?

 

The problem might be caused by a number of things, if it was me I would check:

-All wires, making sure nothing is loose and the proper size wire is being used.

-Make sure to have a good ground, a tap screw on a piece of painted metal isn't enough, with a wire brush get that paint out to make sure the connection is on bare metal.

-Location of the amp, if the amp gets too hot it will automatically shut down. Make sure it is placed in a ventilated area.

-When amp cuts off check and see if any lights come on or off, most amps come with a warning light for heat and shorts in the system.

-Are you running your audio input through a converter or an aftermarket stereo? If you are using a converter try turning down the gain on it and see if the problem persists.

-Open up your amp/sub and check for shorts, any loose wires that could touch during movement.

Does the new unit function perfectly? If not then it has to do with the wires if it does I would open up the unit and inspect the speaker connections. GL

 

try and hook up the remote turn on wire if you are not using it...

the basslink is a self powered unit....doesnt get too hot, have checked many a time...

will def check the ground tonite....

is hooked up thru the stock in dash Xterra head unint...

had the unit open about 2-3 weeks ago, no loose wires...no bad (burned up) smell...nuthin'

the remote switch is hooked up...


I have jiggled all wires and nothing seems to do anything....and this technique I am certain of as my wire jiggling skillz are second to none!
