Default compustar 2wss-as

i just ordered my compustar 2wss-as alarm/remote start system and added the proximity sensors as well. just wondering what your experience was/is with this alarm and if its worth the money. also, is the claimed range is 1.25 miles. is there any truth to this b/c this is one of the main reasons why i am getting the alarm.

I installed one of these units in my car and I am also a dealer. These are excellent units and usually work very good. Chances are you wont get the full 1.25 miles of range unless you in the middle of an open field with no RF interference. They do have some serious range though, even in heavy RF traffic in the city. Def. worth every penny.

Can somebody take a picture of the remote next to the stock Nissan remote? It looks like it's pretty large in the stock photos that are available, and I've heard rumors of it being mistaken for a small cell phone before.

DIRTY DAVE .......... Did you do the actual install yourself? If true, What difficulty did you incur ... If any? And how much was the unit? Thanks

I also install these and while they are fantastic units, i would NOT have purchased the SS model, i have the basic unit (2w900fm) and i love it. The SS has serious remote issues and they claim you're supposed to wear it as a pager (it is about that size anyways)

so i finally got my compustar alarm installed but it wasn't the 2wss-as model. i got the 2w900fm unit (the model right below the 2wss; however, is considered newer than the 2wss) and i love it! the place that did my install (a compustar dealer) said that they discontinued the 2wss-as (probably b/c of the issues i've read about) and their highest model as of date is the 2w900fm. w/e i saved money and i'm happy with it and i'm not stuck with a pager for a remote lol.

So, it sounds like the SS remote is HUGE, and the FM is a standard sized remote. My last alarm/remote start was a Python Responder (same as the Viper), and that was pretty large, but still bearable. So nobody has pictures?

That's not too terribly bad at all. I'm going to have to look into that. Range is good and all (as reported)? The auto-door-unlock, and manual-safe-remote-start things work well?

so far this alarm is great. remote start works only when i put it in "reservation mode" which is a great safety feature for manual cars and the range is awesome. 2-stage shock sensor can be sensitive but u can never be too careful. getting the proximity sensors put in soon.

A Big Thank You to LEEMIK. I was prepared to buy the Compustar 2wSS until you posted a pix of your remote. It convinced me to purchased the 2W900FM-S from eBay. I'm planning on a DIY install. I'd appreciate any helpful info anyone cares to offer.

DIRTY DAVE I just ordered the Compustar 2W900FM. It should arrive by this weekend. Can I count on you for a little tech support if I run into a wall during my DIY install. BTW, where can I pickup proximity sensors? I don't believe they are included with original order.

RFDGN1228 How much did installation cost for your Compustar 2W900FM?

just an FYI, I've seen most 2W900FM remotes in dark blue.. I dunno why mine is gray.... I paid $525 installed and was done by Nazar @ wickedcas.com.. The alarm has been flawless so far..
