Default Infinity help

I already read a rediculous amount of info from the search function, and i am still unclear as to what i need to do. This is what i have so far:

1 Infinity perfect 10vq (with a .75 ft^3 box from Zenclosures) 400 rms
1 pair of infinity perfect 6.1 perfect components 100rms each

I am looking for a recommendation for a two channel amp for the components, and a monoblock for the sub to maximize the performance of the speakers. I realize that the obvious action would be to just match the RMS of the speakers to the amps, but i am ignorant to the ohms, and all the rest of the jargon. I listen to rock and some jazz. Thankyou in advance for all your help audiophiles, Zeith

Those are the same speakers I have and went with the matching Infinity amplifiers. I don't like stupid loud music and practice safe sound. Both my amplifiers get the music up way loud enough.

Subwoofer: 611a
Multi-channel: 7541a

Have a look at the JL brand amplifiers as well. Most multi-channel amplifiers have about 40-50 watts per channel which will get the music up pretty loud. The Infinity subwoofers are pretty efficient and the 611a is way enough to bring painful audio levels. The two amps fit just fine into the empty subwoofer cubby hole.

I have a similar setup as above. 2 10vq's, perfect 6.1, kappa 62.5i, ref611a, and ref7541a.

I like the way the 6.1 components sound but the subs dont hit too hard.

The amps clip like crazy..i cant turn them up high at all. I'm thinking about switching over to JL amps. If anything, stay away from Infinity Amps.

The amps will allow you to drive them with as little as 1V or as many as 6V meaning you can over drive them if you don't adjust them correctly. JL amplifiers has an excellent guide on how to adjust theirs and the method will work with any amplifier.

I use a test CD with bass notes recorded and a lab microphone, pre-amp and an oscilloscope to watch for clipping. It's dead nutz simple to do. I use to use a real o'scope but switched over to my laptop as I can also use it as a spectrum analyzer.

Adjust the head end up to as high as you want to go and measure the headend's output directly into the o'scope. All the headends I've tested can be driven to clipping with use of their volume control.

Now put on hearing protection and connect the headend upto the amplifiers and adjust the gain upwards until clipping appears as flatten tops or bottoms (or both) and then back it down about an "hour" worth if you were looking at a clock.

Think that a DYI amplifier clipping adjustment thread would be worth the effort? I'd to the JL method for those with volt meters and then the full blown o'scope for those so blessed.
