question about the stock stereo
anyone else have this problem? i have the stock stero (not the bose). i replaced all my speakers with infinity kappa 6.5 in coaxials. i get crackling through the speakers when i play them together (the installer said it was due to the different ohms they reguire). but, if i play them separately (back alone or front alone) they are normal. he said i could get rid of this by replacing the head unit. is he correct or did he just screw up on the install? thanks for your input!

The crappy Clarion head unit probably doesn't have enough gusto to push 4 real speakers
As best I can tell, they put 32 ohm speakers in the rear to give 4x less emphasis to the rear. The head unit should still be designed for 4 @ 8 ohms, since they typically share head units across vehicles.
Since you want to keep the sound stage in front of you anyways, try fading your factory head unit forward about half way and see if that's enough to avoid the crackling. If so, you should run like that. Many aftermarket head units will give you more front/rear control.

thanks jason! i am just going to replace the head unit within the next few weeks (or should i do it right away...would the crappy head unit in it now ruin the speakers in any way?)...i just wanted to know if the guys at the stereo place were actually telling me the truth.
one more question. they mounted my infinity speakers...the same as many people are getting (there are a few posts about them already)...infinity 63.5i kappa series...6.5 inch coaxials...is anyone else having a problem with there not being enough depth? they said that it was a very tight squeeze...and they are a tiny bit too far out (so it pushes on the outside grill). they are pushed out a tiny bit (can't notice it unless you are **** retentive like i am...haha)...anyone else have the same problem?
last thing...can anyone recommend a nice head unit to put in...anyone have one that they are really really happy with?
thanks,
