The only problems are that is a mini-disc player (I guess you can add a Sony CD changer) and the radio does not work with all U.S. frequencies.

Here is pic (not mine, from SangWL):
+1, however, the Worldband tuner version gets US frequencies (all of them) they show up on ebay from a firm in Singapore for around $520.

I have had the Japanese version for a couple of years at least, it controls a Sony XM module seamlessly, I get NPR on FM and the local AM channel for weather and news, so I really wouldn't use any other stations as XM is better. I have a CD changer and memory stick reader also hooked to it, it has an AUX in that you could hook a Ipod to (located in the rear - you would have to run a cable). I have had many car stereos over the years, this is my favorite one. Mini disk and CD built in behind the door.

Some older alpine models that you can find online support amber illumination, which makes the lighting match the collor of the stock illumination. I had an old Alpine CDA-7894 that matches well with amber lighting. I just put in an IVA-W200...the illumination on that is blue, but you can load backgrounds onto the screen. I loaded one from Alpine's website that is like a sunset, so the color matches almost perfectly and it doesn't look invasive at all.

I like my double din Pioneer FH-P5000MP.. Sound quality is great. It uses a 24 bit burr brown DAC or something like that... plays regular CD's, MP3 CD's and cassette tape <-- whatever that is lol.. I have a Sirius module on it.. it supports XM too, or anything that can be connected to the Pioneer IP bus system..

The bottom silver part folds down when you eject a tape..

I chose this JVC unit for it's uncluttered design, and you can change the illumination to amber/orange to match the interior lights.

Looks,works,sounds great.

Dosent play mp3 on the cd player. I play them on the mini disk, hooked a $40 MD walkman to my computer, copy the songs to MD, play on the WX. I also have a sony cd changer hooked up that does mp3s, and a memory stick reader that does the same. I rarely use the cd features, mostly XM, MD, memorystick.

hello,

the kd-avx2 has an AV in which I'd like to wire a reverse camera.
Do you know if the unit automatically switches the signal from what's playing to the AV input if there's some signal coming from it ?
thanks!

I have had a Clarion in my Z for several months. I am getting rid of the car so I am looking to sell it.

Great little head unit for the money Im asking. I have my I-pod and Sky-Fi using the Aux Input on the back for great, clean sound from those. The HU has a 700 Color Pallet to choose from to match your dash, the preset "Warm Amber" matches the Z interior perfectly. Sound is Phenomonal, especially with the.. get this.. "Z Enchancer" Eq!

I will sell the Unit, Mounted In the Dash kit with Pocket, Already set up wiring harness and cable for your MP3 Player for $200 plus shipping. Is ready to just plug and play.

I have a matched Clarion 4 Channel Amp, 50x4 at 4 ohms I will sell with it for an additonal $100

All in excellent condition.

while kd-avx2 is a tad bigger than most single din, it's not bad at all, considering the features it comes with. Awesome screen, detachable faceplate, dvd-mp3s are the 3 things that were most important to me.

I was at Circuit City earlier looking at the kd-avx2 again. It's pretty nice and you can get it online for about $420. But, I haven't seen the WX7700-MDX until right now.

Decisions, decisions...

ya u can be able to select which signal u want. i have the AV1 signal and the AV2 signal..right now..the av2 signal is not connected..thats for my xbox or whatever that goes wit it.

the av1 signal is the dvd ...

but yes, u can select which signal u want. if u have one signal to the av1, then it automatically plays it, but u have both signal in the av1 and av2. then it allows u to select which signal u want to play.

this thing is damn cool! im glad i have it! its worth it! my friend can connect his ipod video and watch the video on screen and listen on his headfone and i can listen to my music in other signal..its damn cool!!!!!!!

it's quite simple mate, when you're in reverse gear, do you have to make a handling to switch from the dvd mode to the camera mode or does it works automatically?
