Door speaker brackets?
I'm planning to install my door speakers myself. However, I'm going to need spacers/brackets in order to do this from what I understand. Does anybody have any information on what I'll need and what's avaialble out there?
For my MR2 Spyder I ordered my brackets from Scosche. I just contacted them, but they said they wouldn't have any applications available for the next 30-45 days for the 350Z.

i took the factory speaker and cut it apart. i needed to do some grinding with the dremel tool to get the speaker to fit but it worked perfect as a spacer . i was able to put a 6.5 inch speaker in there and have no clearance problems.

You can do what someone did on this forum. He made the brackets out of wood. That might be better than plastic.

get a small sheet of MDF, 5/8 or 3/4 should be fine unless you have a really deep magnet on the new ones and need something thicker. take out the OEM speaker, lay it face down (magnet facing up) trance the entire outer edge of it including the screw/mounting holes. take out the template the new speaker came with, center it on what you just traced, trace the inner mounting hole of the speaker, cut both out and you now how 100% fitting spacers! do the same thing again for the other door!
to mount them just use the OEM holes you traced to mount the spacer to the door first (put a good sealing between the door and the spacer). now that the spacer is on put the new speaker on it and spin it just alittle in either direction to off set the OEM screws and the new screws so they are not directly side-by-side or on top of each either and just screw the new speaker into the spacer....
