Default little more kick out of factory sub?

I'm wondering if there is a way to get a little more kick out of the factory sub. I don't want to upgrade to another sub right now, just would like the factory sub to kick just a little bit harder. Would I be able to replace the factory amp with a small aftermarket unit without running a power cable from the battery, etc. Sorry, I have very little knowledge in the stereo world...Thanks for any advice on this.

Here's the Bose subwoofer amplifier:

Here's the subwoofer:

(that large piece of steel that appears to be the Bose's missing magnet is actually a spare poll piece for the Kappa's)

Any questions?

Both the subwoofer and amplifier are as low as quality as possible and are the biggest rip-off dollar-for-dollar that you could possible imagine. You'll not get either to "kick" without extreme amounts of distortion ... you might get them to "stumble" down a flight of stairs.

Yeah but ... they're not designed for "free air" mounting and aren't going to kick - or even be happy there. Some people have gone to extreme methods to try to make that area air-tight using sound proofing, fiberglass, chicken fat ... OK I made that last one up but they've tried hard. Most subwoofers are designed to mount in either a sealed enclosure or one with a properly designed port ... free air subwoofers are designed to hang in a hole like the one behind the seats. They aren't very efficient and I'd rather see you go with a bass box with a combination of an amplifier and a subwoofer stuffed in there. Both Infinity and JBL (?) make one.

Always love seeing those pics, Paul. Anytime I see the words BOSE or FACTORY SUB in the title of a thread, I come in expecting to see them. Hilarious.

I just wish there was a way I could have gotten my Z without the $1200 profit center installed. In contrast the Rockford Fostgate in my Xterra doesn't sound half bad. It's missing the strength of the subwoofer that I've come to expect but the rest of the sound is acceptable and IMHO it's better than the more expensive Bose.

Whats very strange is that the Bose in my parent's RX-8 doesnt sound too bad. Its pretty good actually. And if you consider that its next to impossible to replace the HU in those cars, it better be good!
