Default Speaker wire

For those who changed the Front separates, did you use the factory speaker wires or did you rewire the new separates.

If you rewired, how did you get the wire into the door.

I installed Infinti Kappa separates a while back, but I'm installing my amp this weekend. I usually rewire, but I know that could be quite a hassle.

Thanks for the help.

I did use new wire, and yes, it was a hassle running it. But I didn't want to take a chance on making the speaker wire the weakest link in the system.

You need to change your wire if you are running a good system. Otherwise, leave everything stock. what a good wire gives you is controlled mids and highs. Vocal has more air and tweeters sounds smoother at higher volume.

If you have a nice system, do your system a favor and upgrade the wires. Go to your high end home audiophile center and see if they have anything for cheap.

This is what I used:

Rockford Fosgate Wire

It is .69/foot. Here's a quote:

"Looking for the ultimate speaker wire? Rockford’s Type RF Competition series features Riot Gamma Geometry with three cores (PC-OFC copper positive and negative, and an inductive control core) for sonic accuracy. Since the conducting wires cross each other at 90 degrees, unwanted noise is canceled more effectively than other twisted speaker wires. The overall length of the Riot Gamma Geometry wire is similar to conventional speaker wire since there is no “twisting” resulting in minimal added resistance. 15 gauge (1.65mm²). Sold by the foot."

A litte hard to run because of the 3rd wire, but no big problems. I used it for the front and rear speakers, and have a heavier gauge ready for when my sub enclosure is done. I ordered 25-30 feet of it and had a little left over when I was done.

Good luck!

Mikey
