Default Why does my stock 6 disc skip like crazy?

This a common problem? It's a major pain in the ***. I plan on getting a AVN5500 probably soon.. but until then i pull my hair out daily. Any little bump sets it off and it never recovers

The stock HU with changer is a POS. Swap it out with a quality aftermarket unit and you'll be alot happier.

What you will find really funny, is when you go to your service adviser at Nissan, and when he looks at you all puzzled, and tells you that this is the first he's heard of this problem.

if you do a search on this topic you'll notice that this has been an on going problem w/350z's. i bought one of those cd cleaner disc and run it through there every couple of weeks. it seams to do the trick.

+1. Depending on the HU selected and addition of 4ch converter your Blows system will even sound better.

It is absolute ****e. I had it replaced under warranty but ended up no better than before. It's reasonable to expect when ridiculously cold outside, but it could be 10 above freezing and it skips for at least 10 minutes of driving before settling down. I guess that's why they threw in the tape player.

My stock Bose 6 changer just decided to stop working one day. I bought the car used and 2 weeks later when i used "all cd mix" mode it sounded like the motor is permanently jammed. Friggin dealer won't even do me a favor. Now they say they will call NNA for a "favor". Not holding my breath on this one. Windsor Nissan has one of the worst customer service i know, except for like this service guy in his 20's who offered to wash my car while i waited everyone else is skeezy to say the least

I have this problem too. It will skip for 20 minutes before it settles down which renders it useless for short drives. I found that if you leave the unit on when you turn off the ignition instead of powering down it will somewhat alleviate the problem. I want Mp3!!!
