Default location of sub box for roadster Z

Guys,

I previously made a fiberglass box with a diamond sub 10" that fires upward in the bose stock location. It was used in my coupe and sound pretty good.

Now I have a roadster, I am open to other options. How would it sound if I placed it in the trunk of the roadster? Just keep mind this is not your typical trunk because in between the trunk and the driver is the top's placement area.

Any sound guru know which is a better location?

Tony

I have some experience here... not with the Z Vert though...

I had a 92 Lebaron Convertable and it had the same "situation" with a flappable interior space. My brother which owns a stereo shop helped me experiment with different boxes. Turns out the only one that worked "efficiently" was a type 3 band pass box.

Expect near zero bass accuracy... You will hear about 70% bass response in the car, and it will only be flutter, not actual bass response. You won't notice any resonance, but you will hear every rattle in the car.

If you have the means, which sounds like you do with the previous box... I suggest sharing the battom section of the trunk as a box with the sub firing into the car. This would require MUCH less wattage and you will hear the bass with the music, not behind it.

I say this listening to Paradigm tower theater speakers pushed by a Denon receiver hooked up to my computer while staring at a 37" Sony plasma monitor... If that's any indication...

Stick with the stock sub spot and fire it in the car. Have an L7 ther and its not to bad. Its not Martins and McIntosh but it will do.
