Default Would changing the 160 Watt HU alone make audio better?

Hello, guys

As you can tell by my heading, I don't really know too much about audio.

I'm going to purchase an Enthusiast and since I've been reading all this talk about the audio, etc on both the Touring (Bose) and the others, I was wondering if the audio would improve in the Enthusiast by just changing the HU on it.

I know it'll be better if you replace absolutely everything, but I don't think I'll have enough money to get everything at once.

So, is changing the regular 160 Watt HU going to make the sound better?

Thanks for your help.

I think the speakers make a more of a difference than HU if you have to change one thing since the speakers are the bottle neck here.

on a budget? Get a Focal component and Alpine 7894. That's a kick *** budget system for about $500.

change the speakers first. That will definitely make the biggest difference. If you can, add an amp for the fronts, the rears don't really need it.

Thanks, guys

I'll definetely change the speakers first if I can't afford the HU AND speakers.

I appreciate the advice.

Thanks again.

I just replaced my HU first with an Alpina CDA-9815. Although the sound is cleaner, the system now actually sounds like it's being pushed through paper. The stock HU sucked too much to make that distinction.

Speakers and amp are definately next on my list.

If you want anything that approximates good sound, you've got to change it all. Changing the speakers and adding an amp will really show you just how bad the head unit, and vice-versa.
