I got an mtx 9500 in my Z and gonna build my own box because the place that made it for me did a ****ty job for such a badasss speaker, but before i begin which way would produce the most deep bass? pointing the speaker towards the rear of the car? towards the driver/passenger area? to the left/right? any tips in wood material would be good

to be honest, it doesnt matter if low freq extension is hwat you are after. jut make sure yoi build the box to spec, with 3/4" and plenty of bracing.

facing it back, facing it up will probably yield slightly better respones by loading off the backwall and hatch...but againk when youa re talking about such a small car like the Z, it really doesnt matter all that much...

the important thing is a solid, built to spec box

yeah the only bad thing about that sub is the weight. probably will wear my springs faster and throw some alignment out of spec.

In a week or so, I will be able to give you a comparison of a sub facing up v.s. to the side. My sidebox enclosure did not arrive in time for my install, so I built a quick box so we could tune the system with the sub. The sub faces up toward the window now.

not too sure what it weighs, probably like 200 with tha enclosure, really heavy and true dip in the *** aint bad ...untill springs get bouncy. Facing the sub towards the rear is the best. i took out the spare tire and the carpet and blackcardboard in the rear and placed the box underneath the rear strut bar facin the back. bumps great. now i just need to construct a vented box for more BOOM. Cruise ur Z's on Bristol street (Santa Ana) this easter night, rep tha Z's.
