Here's what I'm working with:
Front Components: Brand New Alpine Type R's (110watts RMS)
Rear Speakers: stock
H/U: 45x4
Amp: Alpine MRP-F450 (70x4@4ohms/100x4@2ohms) OR 200watts x2 bridged@ 4ohms
What I'm wanting to do is bridge the amp to just push the front components and use the HU to push just the stock rears. Is this o.k. to do? What are your thoughts?
I realize I'll have to turn the gain down a little on the external amp so I don't kill the components.

I don't care about stereo in Z, it's stock stuff is fine with me. New cars come with pretty decent stereos from the factory. It's not worth putting all that money into a stereo, save it for performance mods. But it's up to you I guess, you want some bumps right???

the only thing i loved about my bose that made me keep it so long was the 6 in dash changer

So lets imagine you start a thread asking if you should install this one intake. Then some idiot comes to your thread and says, "I dont' really care about performance. I'd save it for upgrading my stereo."

are you serious? The stock system sucks. Anybody who is slightly into music would want to upgrade. It will be my first 'major' mod on my 07.
hehe, to each his own, we all have different levels of enjoyment for different things, some may think a prius is plenty of performance, some may not
but yeah maybe that post was kinda pointless, maybe i should venture over to the performance forum and post something like "i think the stock Z performacne is awesome, no need to do anyhting performance wise" and see what kind of reception i get lol

I agree with HarryPotter about doing all four speakers...Although, I do understand there are some here who do not care for rear speakers and some of us who do. I replaced my rear with the Alpine SPS coaxil's. 95 bucks I think. I am doing almost the same set-up with the amp pushing the front stage and allowing the headunit to power the rear. Again,,,it's all in what you like and what sounds good to you..

i disagree, espeically in a Z...but again, i am not saying youa re wrong, i am saying my opinions differ.
there is a reaosn why 95 percent of the top sound quality competition cars in the world only have front speakres, infact, many of them have ALL speakres infront of hte, including subs...
why is this?
well, the point, to us at least, is to duplicate a live performance, your dashboard is the stage, and the musicians on are on it playing. when you go to a live concert, the performers are only from infront of you, no where do they sing behind you. hence, front stage only in cars.
now some people talk about rear fill...well, rear fill, atleast int he professional car audio language is not rear stage, whcih is waht 99 percent of what i see peopel say rear "fill" talk about, a pair of speakers in the back. well, true rear fill is suppse to duplicate the rebound of sound waves from the walls behind you, giving you a feeling that you are in a much larger environment than you truly are. true rear fill involves uaully only midranges, playing at a bandpass frequency (usually midrange only), attenuated, and often time delayed. but in tordays world, most top cars dont do it anymore beucase the car itself, has its own reverberations from the back of the car bouncing forward to give you the feeling of that.
in the Z especially, where the rear seprakes are situated, they are IMO a horrible place to put anyhign, all it will do is pull the sound stage to one side, and pull it behind you...
a good pair of front stage, in kicks or in door pods, will fill the Z with a LOT of sound, soaking in it
i think most ofhte ones i did can satisfy this...anyway, thast my two bits on why no rear fill
