Default Understrut Box Reliability/ Reviews??

Hi everyone

I have been tempted to pull the trigger on an understrut box - Single 10" Enclosure.

I have noticed that the big 3:

Zenclosures

Zonix aka xk-xtremekustoms

Wicked C.A.S.

Have similar designs, setups, airspace etc. The only major difference seems to be price.

Can someone give me their personal reviews of stability, possible "buzzing" or any other things they have noticed while having such a box and which one is "better" (yes I know...) ??

I want to make a purchase soon.

Oh and lately, I will most likely be running a SEAS LOTUS 10" Sound Quality Sub-woofer (thanks Kwame!!); or something similar.

Thanks everyone.

I havent tested my box yet, because i just received it this morning. I'll proably install tonight after work.

HOWEVER, i test fit the box into the car and it fits SPOT-ON. Nice and tight, no gaps.

Which of the top 3 did you end up purchasing?

oh yeah my bad, got it from mike @ Zenclosures.
It's the single 10" understrut box btw.

ot: just went to the car to put money in the meter and took a look at it.. Looks really clean. Definately not fancy by any means (no neons or plexiglass, etc) but if clean and oem is what you're after, its for you.

installed my sub a few hours ago.

Sounds great. No rattling from box (or from the car for that matter)

Im a happy guy. Only thing that sucks is i have no idea where to mount the amp as the back portion is not wide enough to accomidate my amp. I'll just have to build something.

(i know he sells an amp rack too but i wanted something smaller so i can use the space on each side for extra storage for my bag or something)

I have the dual 10 "Z enclosure" from mike. I am very happy with the product, very clean, looks good and sounds great. I am sure you will get different responses from people using each above. I am sure each product is really good. Just depends on what design you like and what you are willing to pay. Which ever you decide,,,post photos when you get it installed. Good Luck

S-Type FTW.

Sounds awesome and still have the space for the cargo net in the back

I have a Single 10" from Zen - JL Audio 10w3v3. Sounds great...but i'm having a rattle problem. But it's definately not coming from the Box.

Mike is Fantastic to deal with. I highly recommend his products.

Thanks for all the positive input, reviews etc. I ended up pulling the trigger on an XtremeKustoms single 10" box. I couldn't resist the detail of the "Z 's" on the woofer opening; great feedback overall.

Interesting enough, I shouldn't get and rattling or buzzing being that I am not using anything earth shattering; no JL subs here, looking for pure Sound Quality and smooth bass.

You know, i think i might agree with you. Your comment made me think that i might just be better off changing the sub, rather then putting all kinds of dynamat in my car.

Please let me know which sub you end up choosing, and if you get rattles or not. Changing a sub we be so much easier then the alternative.

As long as your happy with the quality of bass.....

^^ Believe me Ryan987, it's been hard steering away from the JL series subs, but I know my musical tastes and sound/noise tolerance are more along the smooth, sharp bass type than the deep, strong, mellow sounds.

My current choices are:

1) Seas Lotus SW250 (Thanks Kwame1)

2) DLS Ultimate Nobelium (thanks bing )

3) Morel ELATE SW 10

I might end up with the Morel to match my Morel Dotech 6 MKII's that supply the front soundstage; something about those European speakers.

I have the Zenclosures single 10" box with a JL 10w3v2 and it sounds great - I am very happy with it. The box itself fits snugly under the strut and hasn't moved once. I got my box before the Type S came out, but I think I get more storage space behind and in front of the strut with the box I have.

I also have a amp rack I got from Mike @ Zenclosures - it's in the cubby behind the driver's seat - my RF amp and Navone LOC sitting nicely on it.

Are you having an issue with rattles? if not, did you dynamat? lets face it, that sub is obviously my 1st choice, i just don't want to have to rip apart the car to correct the rattles.

Thanks.

Im looking into this as well. Ive always wanted to custom fit a JL audio sub into the stock bose position but more I read on it, more I think its worthless. Unless someone here knows a setup that actually works well in the stock position. I want to mount the amp on the back of the box but dont know if theres enough room to do that. Also how hard is it to put the box in? any need to remove the plastic paneling? Also do you guys regret getting the under strut bar enclosure as opposed to the one that goes behind it?

I had the Zenclosure for a bit more than two years now.

I run two ten inch Infinity 10.0 woofers (which just barely fit) driven with several hundred watts worth of power. No buzzing what so ever.

The thing fits tightly under the strut bar - so tightly that I mounted a pair of handles on the thing. They're dual purpose - they help tug the box out and also serve as a nice mounting point for a handcuffed female

Ok they make it easy to pull the box out.

lol at the handle bars.

So I just got a single 10" infinity reference 1030W... and wow i did not think it would fit so I'm guessing, its REALLY close to the other side.... is it ok not having much room back there?

And also where'd u get the guard bars from? Seem handly in protecting the subs from stuff in the back.
