Canadian BOSE response
Folks,
I took delivery of my Z in March and the more I drive it the more I hate the "premium" sound system. I wrote to BOSE Canada ... the response I got sounds like they are doing something to correct the quality.
WE NEED TO WRITE IN TO MAKE SURE THEY KNOW WE ARE NOT HAPPY ... DO YOUR STUFF FOLKS! Copy the letter if you want just do it. Not start a war but if anyone thinks the system sounds acceptable shake your head a bit, it is barely better than Stereo AM radio!
Here the response and my letter:

Folks,
I just purchased a Nissan 350Z with your "Premium Sound" system. I have a 97 Maxima and a CLK 33 Mercedes both with BOSE systems. These two cars sound amazing, the Nissan 350 sounds terrible and is not worthy of the BOSE label.
The sound quality is sub standard, for a system advertised as top of the line it has no right to tagged as such. The auto pilot sound feature does not work properly. Volume is randomly changing and cannot be set a comfortable level.
As to specific complaints, the sub provides no real "sub" performance or sound. The tweeters may as well not be there at all. Door speakers are mediocre at best. I would gladly take a couple hundred dollars for a trade or upgrade.
I am curious to know whether BOSE is truly interested in rectifying this with its customers. I realize that Nissan probably provided specs but as I stated this system is not worthy.
For what it is worth, the most popular 350Z site is full of complaints wrt the system, if anyone is truly interested in knowing the pulse you can find it there!
What is a kick in the pants is that Nissan Canada has no record or program to replace the amps to correct the auto pilot problem. However Nissan North America (USA) is actively replacing the amps. Do you have any recommendations or knowledge of this?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards.

Folks,
I agree we all seemto get a polite response .. here is a follow up note I sent off to them ...
I'll keep you posted.
Patty,
Thank you for your response.
I would like to say however that given that this problem has been around for a while and there is nothing in your note that is providing any resolution, I feel as though I am getting a polite brush off. I know that BOSE has been receiving complaints about this system for almost a year. I would be interested in knowing what specific plans you have to correct the situation to bring the system up to your "corporate standard". Is there something planned or yet to be planned? Can you share what the plan time lines are and what we can expect i.e. how will the fix be done... dealer fix, personal fix? For your information the amp replacement program has been received poorly as well. Although the auto pilot sound leveling seems to be better it does nothing to address the overall system quality.
If you are unable to address this with specifics can you provide me a contact name who can? Thank you for your time.
