Hey Guys and Gals,
I'm kinda new to the forum, so hello...
Little background first if you don't mind...
I purchased my Z about a month ago and had the Eclipse 6610 installed about two weeks later.
However, after getting home I noticed the set up wasn't as flush as I was hoping. I call the install place to find out they used a 2005 kit instead of a 2007 kit.
I took it back a week later and they re-installed it.
Here are some pics, for your enjoyment, I'm still getting used to the BlueTooth and have yet to set up the Key Words and what not.
I do have one question...
Has anybody had issue with their back two speakers after an install of a new head unit, cause the sound coming out of them is extremely low. Do I need to purchase new back speakers???

The base unit was $1699.
I purchased it at an electronics store here in my hometown, but you can get it for the same price via Crutchfield.
Adding in all the hardware, BlueTooth, Ipod, and installation, it came out to about $2200.
However, I got a deal that if you bought an Eclipse Head Unit, you'd get up to $200 back on the installation.
So, after I get that back, $2000 total.

The stock rear speakers in our Z's are 32ohms.....Which really filters out a lot of sound. My opinion, if you want to use rear speakers,,,1. replace rear speakers with a cheap $100 coax. set,,,power them off the headunit. You will hear a huge sound difference using an aftermarket standard 4ohm speaker back there. I bought the Alpine 17C, 6 1/2's coax. for the rear. Infinity makes a great coax. as well. Both in the $100 range...Keep us posted.

Unfortunately my knowledge of ohm's and coax's is extremely minimal.
I guess my noob question would be, aren't speakers usually powered off the head unit???
Appreciate anymore insight you can give, I really would appreciate it.

wow, that looks awesome. I have the 5435 I think and yes the volume is low out of this deck for some reason. There is a setting where you can have it on loud. The thing I hate though, is if you get an aftermarket amp, the deck puts out a hiss noise which the amp just amplifies even more. I don't think I will be getting another Eclipse deck even though this is the best looking deck out there.
jmarascojr,,,,Its hard for me to explain about the exact deff of Ohm's for I am an accountant and not familiar with the logistics. But, from what I have experienced, the ohms determine how much sound is filtered out? I have always used 4ohm speakers and 1,2 or 4 ohm subs....There are many guys here on this site who can help explain the Ohms/resistance question.....
As for "powering off the headunit",,,,I wasnt sure if you were using amps or not. If so,,,most people here power the front speakers and subs off the amp and power the rear speakers off the headunit. If you are running just the headunit,,,,your fronts and rears will be powered off the headunit...
Coax. speakers means the tweeter is positioned in with the driver,,,,so the two can be mounted as "one speaker"....Component speakers will have the driver and tweeter seperated,,which requires additional installation. I hope this helps,,,and I am sure some of the audio guys/girls here will help out when reading this.....Headunit looks great, by the way....

Cyp, thank you for the heads up on the amp.
Makes me kinda hesitant on purchasing one now.
LSmith and Vaughn, thank you for the information.
I think I have a better understanding now.
I guess here is where my question lies now...
Would you suggest just replacing the back speakers
or
Getting an amp and 2 10" subs and replace the back speakers
or
None of the above and do ........
Thanks!!!!

jmarascojr,,,My suggestion would be to Get a really good set of speakers up front,,,,if you want rear speakers,,,get a decent $100 set of Alpine's or Infinity's....Get 1 or 2 subs,,,depending on what you like,,,,,,
I would power the front stage and subs with a good amp/amps...
Some people use one amp to power everything,,,,
I have an amp on my front stage,,,,headunit power on my rear's (faded towards the front), and an amp on my two 10 sub's (understrut from mike).
I am really pleased with my set up,,,,but everyone has their own like's/dis-like's for sound...I hope this will give you an idea of a basic set up...
Now, depending on how much money you want to spend will determine the type of speakers, sub's, enclosure, ect. ect.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask or PM.

You def need an amp to power two subs in the back. I have the JL Stealthbox with two 10 W3v3 speakers and powering it I have an Infiniti amp. If you get an amp, I would recommend JL. That's what I should have purchased. I replaced both my front and rear speakers and front tweaters with Infiniti speakers. I have to say that the sound did improve but its still doesnt sound as good as I want them to sound. I dont think the Infiniti speakers I purchased are any good. If I were to do it again, they would not be my choice. I also ran all new wiring throughout to all speakers. I would not do that again. With my selection of speakers, it made no difference.

If I wanna "go big" and do everything at once, I should replace all 4 speakers, get an amp, and 2 10s...
And suggested brand is JL...
I think I'm catching on...
I looked at Z Closures (sp?) boxes on Ebay the other day and they were very clean.
However, I think I would want to put my amp somewhere else, maybe in the compartment that was built for the stock sub???
Suggestions?

I didn't have any major issues with mine.
It was off by like 100 feet or so.
Some roads, mainly in the sticks, couldn't be found.
Ipod worked fine.
Only "issues" that I have was that the sound seemed to worse than the stock system (which could have easily been fixed with new speakers) and that I lost the usage of the steering wheel controls.
I'm unfortunately selling my car back to Nissan, due to it being a Lemon, and this is going with it.
I may look into some Pioneer models next year when I need to get a new car.
