Hey Pearl Jam,
The answer to your question depends on your listening tastes, your budget, your system goals, and your car audio installation skills (unless you're going to have a professional do your install).
My advice/recommendation . . . take some of your favorite CD's (Pearl Jam, I might guess) to the closest reputable car audio store, and AUDITION various speakers. Realize that the best sounding speakers to you may require an external amp to power them (is that in your budget/plans?) Also realize that what sounds best on a sound board may not sound best in your vehicle (but that's the best we've got).
Try to compare apples to apples. By that I mean, don't let the salesman run an external amp, a great subwoofer, and an awesome head unit, unless you, too, plan to have those components. If you're plannning to run head unit power (deck power), then compare the various speakers running deck power. The high-end speakers will sound like crap, however, b/c they're seriously underpowered.
Finally, do some research on the net. You can learn alot from others' experience/knowledge, and you can usually find better prices for your component choices on the web/from someone on the web, than you can at your local retailer.
Also remember that $3000 worth of equipment can still sound like crap if it's not installed properly. DO NOT SKIMP ON THE INSTALL, and take the advice of experienced/reputable installers. For an idea of a great system in a 350Z, NIZL probably has the best installation. I imagine it sounds like nirvana. His component choices/system design is excellent (also expensive), the kickpanel installation provides excellent imaging (I imagine), and helps w/ issues like path length discrepancies, phasing issues, etc.
