been told 2 different things by installers
I have a 06gt. Has bose system with hand controls on steering wheel and gps.
I want to keep the bose head unit and sub.
I want to add 10inch kicker l5 in zencloser with kicker amp.
I want to replace door and rear speakers.
Can this be done?
One guys say you can but i will pay beacuse i want to keep the bose head unit.
Another installer say it can't be done?
Just to make it confusing! Can i keep the gps and have it play dvd's?
Thanks

It can be done either by keeping the Bose and connecting the amplifier to the line level outputs - pulling the Bose amplifiers or you can keep your controls with an interface which will connect to a limited number of head-ends.
The door and rear speakers need to match the weak factory amp(wattage wise). Which means you can't put 100watt speakers in there without adding another amp for those also. For the sub the cheaper way is to just add a line converter. To do it with digital quality sound add a JL clean sweep and you will have multiple RCA connections to add as many amps as you will need or want. Oh yeah and find an installer that that knows what the hell he is talking about...
to do what you want:
1. tap the signal BEFORE the bose amp, menaing either at the INPUT side of the bose amp or behind the headunit, this will ensure a relatively flat signal and unaffected by volume.
2. the sginal between the headunit and the bose amp is VERY weak, meaning if you want to get decent sound, i suggest getting at least a line driver, they can be had for under 100 bucks. this boosts the signal that goes into the amp
thats about it... pretty simple.
though i do prefer a headunit, i have done a good 10 or so and they sound okay...but a line driver will help
on the issue of speaker, i wanst sure what you meant by kicker amp, if the amp will power the front speakres or just hte sub...if you are still depending on the bose AMP to power the new front pseakres, best to just somethig cheap, though i prefer not ot do it at all since you wont get much out of it.
the stock bose spekares in the car i think are 2ohms, twhcih means when you put a 4ohmn aftermarket one in there, you may end u ploosing quite a bit of output
