I am going to get my install done on Wed, and just wanted a quick idea on which unit is better.

I got a good deal on a Z1 (i believe it is last years model) and was curious to know how it compares to the newer D3.

I know the Z1 has a hard drive which was something I would like to have, but I know the D3 has great ipod intergration. Which will compensate for not having a hard drive.

any other pros and cons?

 

I would like to know as well. Is it worth spending $500 more on Avic-Z1?

the z1 has a HDD for navigation and ripping cd's. I personally don't like the D3. It has one slot, so in order to run the navigation etc, you can not have a dvd in, as the nav is disk driven. But hopefully your good deal was 1000 or less, as the new z2 with upgraded maps etc can be found for about 1200.

 

You can get a ipod adapter for the Z1. I have it and it works great.

 

I contemplated both, however I went with the D3 since I would have the ipod hooked up anyway for both songs and movies, and saved 1500.00. I get my Nismo, i will put the Z3 (hopefully it will be updated with the new ipod and usb) in.

 

i have the z1 i think its completly worth it. sonic electronix has great deals on them too. I love mine and wouldnt even think about trading it for a d3 the one slot would be reason enough for me to not get it. I would hate that.
