Stroker or Wild Beast

FYI, I tired the search and found too much of nothing so I am starting a new thread.

I'm in the process of adding subs to my Z. What's your opinion between the 2 subs. I'm thinking of either 1 CV Stroker (10") or 2 Cadence Wild Beast (10"). It's cheaper with the Wild Beast, but prefer the RMS handle of the Stroker.

Stroker is 2000 wt rms and 4000 wt max, dual 4 ohms

Wild Beast is 600 wt rms and 1200 wt max, single 4 ohms

I currently have a Memphis 1000d pushing about 1200 wt max with 1 ohm stable. Thinking about upgrading to something more powerful. Please let me know. Thanks.

StreetOC192 09-28-2007 03:15 AM

Saying "1200 wt max with 1 ohm stable" is a little misleading. I think you meant to say the RMS power.......
Memphis 1000d RMS Power: 4 Ohm 300X1, 2 Ohm 600X1, 1 Ohm 1100X1

The CV Stroker subs are very nice, especially the Pro. A lot of people discredit Cerwin Vega these days, or they've forgotten all about them. Most of the younger crowd doesn't even know who they are! :icon11:

Anyway. The Cadence sub is not in the same league as the Stroker. CV is only employing the same revolutionary, successful design from years gone by in the Stroker Pro model though. You are talking about the non-Pro model (since the pro doesn't come in a 10"). Get a dual 2 Ohm Stroker and post pics when done with your install.

i hope your porting and not air sealed

and don't pay more than $199 for that CV 10"

Me being 30 yrs old, I do remember how awesome CV's are/were. Yes, it is just the Stroker and not the Stroker Pro. I was thinking about putting it in a zenclosure under the 350z rear struct/sway so it has to be 10". Nothing major. Would the stroker be better than Kicker L7's? I just don't want to pay for a more popular brand. Should I ditch the Memphis amp and get something like Kicker 1200x1? Not doing competition, but just want something like a monkey in my trunk.

I don't know how to tune it. If it's going to be ported, then it will have to be a customized build. Again, was thinking about fitting it in the zenclosure. BTW, where can I get it at a reputable place for under $200?

350zspl 09-28-2007 05:52 AM

i have KING KONG in my hatch

check mounting depth on CV 10" to make sure it fits in zen under strut

i do like the CV but would do an L7 over it

The CV Stroker has a 7" mounting depth.

OP, PM Mike from Zenclosures and ask what it would take to get a custom box made up, and even ported by him if possible.

Found $220 on eBay. I found 3 dealers in my area. Will have to listen and check out the local prices. Wish they could come close to price match. As for the mounting depth, it is 7".

Myself? I've never been a big Kicker fan, but the L7's aren't too bad. You don't have to pay for a big name brand to get good bass.....as a matter of fact most of the best subs around are by underground/boutique build houses.

Oh and keep the Memphis amp, it's a nice piece.

Guys I gotta tell you, and I hate sounding like a broken record, but these FI 10" subs I installed are the best I've ever heard.....period. I have had several subs of all different types and sizes and FI wins hands down!(and NO I don't work for them, LOL) These blow every pair of 12's away I've ever owned for SQ at a unbelievable volume levels. I like my rock LOUD! I have Kicker 2500.1 amp powering these and it is only at 1/2 gain and it is way way way more than loud enough!
I'm very happy as you can tell.......consider them, buy them, then you'll owe me!:D

Fi subs are very nice, and they are one of the companies i would be referring to when I say "underground/boutique" build houses.

350zspl 09-28-2007 06:16 AM

What is a FI? Love to get 12's and never had 10's (quality) before. Therefore, I have to get it to save space.

Scott, the original engineer for RE subs started his own company, FI subs, in Las Vegas a year or so ago. He redesigned the subs he made famous for RE and is starting to win all sorts of accolades! And they are priced very reasonable for the great quality you get. I have 2- 10's and they have better SQ and sound louder than any pair of 12's I've ever owned, and I've had most of them! I didn't know you could have such great SQ at these volume levels till these subs......very impressive.
