Angry factory amp???

Hey everyone, new to the board. I'm on my fourth day of having my 5 day old car in a million pieces and I'm getting frustrated. Can anyone tell me where the factory amp is for the front door speakers is? I used the stock wiring harness so that I wouldn't have to pull wires thru the doors, and I'm not getting anything. There must be a amp somewhere right? Any help would go along way and save a tool from being launched into a wall somwhere ....

not trying to imply anything, but you know that the amp only comes with the Bose stereo right? (just don't want you looking for something that isn't there)

ok, so you have the Bose stereo, I believe the amp is found in the hatch area. If you take out the floor panels you will see a styrafoam block on the drivers side. The amp is in that block.

you implied correct! I'm an idiot when it comes to stero equipment. I know enough to dangerous I don't have the Bose system. It was the ghetto Clarion one. I home ran my rears and sub, but used the factory harness for the fronts. I get sound out of the tweeters but not the mids. Any suggestions? And don't suggest that I'm a dumb a$$ cause I already know that thanks

maybe a little more info on your setup so we can see what you did right and what you did wrong. You said you have a sub, so you must have an amp to power it. If so, where did you hook up the input for the amp? what are you powering the fronts? From the Stock head unit? Aftermarket unit or amp?

Actually, I have two 400 watt Phoenix Gold Amps and 4 6" Planet Audio mids with satallites, 1 10" Planet Audio sub and a Sony EP passive HU. The only part of the stock wiring I used was the front speaker wires in the harness. I am just lazy and don't want to fish the doors . Everything is fine accept that I get nothing to the front 6" door speakers. Any help?

I am not familiar with the planet audio's, but I am assuming they came with a xover. You should have run the factory wire to the xover input, then there should be 2 outputs, one for the mid and one for the tweeter, correct?

Maybe post some pics of how you have things set up and we can get better idea of how to help you.

hmm, not sure if the crossover is the problem. sounds like it could be from the head unit. How is the stock wire connected to the amp (or HU) Assuming you have the other Amp to power the rear speakers (and maybe the fronts later) Maybe the HU has one output at one time only (ie. RCA or internal amp to factory wires) Check by unpluging the rears and test it. Also check to see that you have the right wire harness conversion (the stock pin out most likely will not match the SONY HU pin out) Give us your wiring setup so we can see where you went wrong.

AAAAGGGHHHH! Well the good news is I found the problem, the bad new is it's a faulty connection inside the RCA's leaving the amp. One side is touching the outside housing causing a short. When I lift it off it clears the short and starts working. Well that's enough to drive someone insane Thanks to both of you Tonkadog and Alphared. I really appreciate the tips. I'll keep my eyeball peeled for someone else on the site that I might be able to help out and return the favor. Karma is a wonderful thing! Btw I just broke 200 miles and boy do I love it, and so does my wife! peace out.
