what is the better buy? (10" subs)

i have the 10w7..i love it a lot.

 

Out of those two i would no doubt take then W7

 

I have had 2 12" L7s, 1 12" L7, and 1 10" CVR in the Z and all sounded great...the 10 gets plenty loud and sounds just as clear as any of my SQ subs - Image Dynamics specifically. Save some money and go with Kicker - as with all JL Audio products I feel the little superiorities in performance don't justifiy the additional cost

Are these the only choices and why? These are in two different classes of subwoofer. Branding aside, it's like asking "what's better, a Hyundai Sonata or a BMW 545i?"

I guess I'll try to answer you question though. Considering the price difference (~$470 vs. ~$180) I would personally pick the Kicker. I don't feel the W7 is worth the premium price, I think JL did an amazing job with the W7 in respect to advertising and visual stimuli. The Kicker isn't a horrible sub for the money, and if I got the Kicker it probably wouldn't sound bad at all with proper install/box/tuning. And the money I saved can be added to and can eventually go towards a top notch sub.

 

if you want sound quality.... JL 10w6v2. if you want BOOM 12kicker L7

these are prices are a bargain and does the job for the best bang for yo buck$

 

I'm pretty tired of your comments on JL. We all know RE subs are good and all, me coming from a lot of different types of subwoofers, JL is still a good brand. Maybe be overpriced but who really cares. That's like lecturing people who buy $2k+ exhaust because you have some custom pipes done for cheap with the same gains or more. I just don't get your posts some times. It's like you are telling us that you have the superior set up or something. Maybe you can post back so i can understand you better.

no hostility.. i usually try to stay out of JL specific threads till people post crazy statements.. the last thread that went the distance was the one where the guy said JL is the best subwoofer on the market.

I accept the fact that JL's marketing department is better than my forum skils.. so i am not going to fight them.. if someone asks for subwoofer recommendations, then yeah i will suggest ID, RE, FI, Diamond.. etc but if they say they want JL i have decided to stop giving my opinion.

taken into price and sound, menaing if you are looking for the best output and sound uqality (SQL) for hte buck, there are IMO a few ubs way better than either of thsoe listed...

my favorite right now for price versus output is the image dynamics IDQ version 3 10"...

there are also others of course...
