I used a profit clip and mounted in my cup holder on my QX4 so I can control it from the center console. Great idea. Would this same type work on the center cupholder, I want to be able to slid the door so I don't have to remove the ipod each time!

You don't have to remove it each time. The door closes normally as if nothing was there.

I am planning on doing another one to modify the deign a little bit, and I will do a DIY with pics then. It's not a hard project, but you definitely need the right tools for the job. If you don't have a router, it would be nearly impossible to do right.

of course we would need the right tools..

what do you mean "router"? For me, it is different. I have the IPOD VIDEO which will be plugged into the Avic-N3. That is all. But the Ipod video mount will have to be different.

I want to mount it facing straight instead of sideway..That is what is bothering me..i haven't done any kind of drawing or measuring of how it would turn out. But i have a pretty good idea that it will fit!

See if you can try and mount it facing straight instead of sideways.

Since you have the 180 degree mount..what don't you put a 90 degree mount in there.

You can just take it out and then put it 90 degree.

like a Red Cross kinda sign on there. should have enough room.

but then of course you'll need to put another hole for the charger thing.

it seems do-able

My itouch will not fit in the space vertically, it had to be placed sideways. I'm not familiar with the ipod video so I would have to do some research on that one. And by a router I mean a power tool that can groove a flat piece of wood. You can get them from Lowe's or Sears for around $70-90.

About the only one that would fit vertically would be the nano, maybe the last generation mini.

C Dubs lookin good man, I really like the functional detail where the recess hugs the ipods silouette and then tapers-off the allow your finger placement for removal. I really like this detail symetry and order can boring sometimes but when a line like this is disruptive and both functional well it is just good design!

That looks awesome- It's a good idea for the wasted cubby space. I wonder if anyone else has made things like this? Like a storage system for CD's??
