Default What size spacer would I need?

Putting some new speakers in my doors. Most likely going to use the stock locations but thinking about door pods.

If I do go with the stock holes and the speaker has a depth of 140 mm / 5,51” - how thick of a spacer should I get to prevent it from hitting the glass?

Thanks!

Even with a 1" spacer, that brings your depth to 4.51", this is still tooooooo deep for the stock location. What drivers are you using might I ask? If you are investing a good chunk of money in high end drivers you would be better off with kicks or pods rather than the very restrictive stock location.

+1,,,those are some really deep speakers. I would be interested in knowing what type drivers these are as well.

With those drivers,,it would be very difficult, if at all possible, to get those to fit in the stock location. If you space them out too much,,the driver will make contact with the door panel..(not good). It sounds like doorpods/kicks will be your best route.

Yeah,

After thinking it through more I purchased some 06+ pods online from wickedCAS last night.

The drivers are DLS Nobelium's 6.2 (so it would pretty much be a crime against eardrums to mount them in the stock location anyway).

Debating on where to mount the tweets, whether to cut into the door pod and place it next to the driver or make it work in the stock position.

I am looking at the DLS website, and they are saying the mounting depth is 2.56"

You are looking at the mounting diameter, which is 5.51" ... thought that seemed a little funny.
