Default $500 Budget for sub/amp/box

Hey guys, I'm really new to car audio and am looking for a starter sub/amp to go with my brand new avid d3. I'm pretty sure I want a single 10" in a zEnclosure box but really have no idea what brand of sub or amp to get. I definitely prefer quality over thump. Any suggestions?

*edit* i can go 500 on just sub/amp/cabling - don't factor the box into costs.

pretty hard with 500 to get quality. The box itself leaves you with 350 for a sub and amp combo. Any way of getting more money saved for the set up?

This will be a nice little starter kit right here:
10" Sub (Pioneer Premier TS-W1007D4 / 350 watts RMS): http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures.php?id=8632

Mono Amp: JBL GTO601.1II / 424 watts x 1 chan at 4 ohms
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures.php?id=7422

Sub Box: You know, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...spagenameZWDVW

So that's, One sub= $50, one mono amp= $220 and the sub box= $110. Total is $380. (all at www.sonicelectronix.com)

You don't HAVE to spend big bucks for quality if you know where to look.

eD gives you a 15% discount if you buy things together. 11kv.2 sub + nine.2 amp (underrated at 400x1 bridged) is only about $260 shipped. Zenclosure is $140, leaves you $100 UNDER budget, and I think you would be happy with the setup.

If you wanted to step up the output, go with an 11ov.2 (that is the sub I am going to use), about $320 (with nine.2).... which leaves you $40 UNDER budget.

I can theoretically spend more.. I just ordered the 10" single zenclosure for 140 shipped and can spend another 4-500 on everything including cables. I just don't know where to even start in terms of rms, etc. I just want something that will fill out the sound in my car decently with a wide range of music. And since I'm a noobie, I don't want to spend 1k or more and end up not liking it. I'd rather spend the 500, get a feel for it, and then couple years later spend some good money on a "real" system

The suggestion for the JBL GTO601.1 was a great one. This is my current sub amp and I love it.

The type R suggestion - another good one. I have owned a few and love the quality and output.

Also, look into Kicker CVR. That is my current sub and it sounds a lot better than I expected. And for $65 is can't be beat - http://www.caraudiodeals.com/kicker-...ers-p-941.html

This infinity amp looks like a deal and I have heard good things. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18703

Another solid amp: http://sonicelectronix.com/item_6470...+MRP-M450.html

Wiring is where a lot of people skimp...keep in mind not all wiring is created equally.

Try Knu Konceptz 4 gauge http://knukonceptz.com/productMaster...lation%20Kits#
They make exceptional wiring kits

All four websites I linked to I have ordered from, so I can vouch for them.

Also if you are interested, I have an old MTX 4250D that I could sell you for $100. Very solid, underrated amp http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive/thunder4250d.cfm

I can install everything for you for cheap, if interested PM me
