Default New Headunit Help!!!

hey guys....ok so i have a panasonic CQ-C8100U HU and im lookin to install it this week. i ordered the dash kit on ebay were the HU will fit into it, and i also ordered wires from bestbuy for a 2003 350z.....heres the link

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1051384099603

it basically looks like the stock wires that come out of the car?

basically im just trying to install this headunit and im a little confused....did i purchase the right thing? where can i find the right wires and maybe a diagram for this radio? do i really need to splice and solder alot of wires, because all it said was plug and play?

someone help!!

I'm not familiar with you HU or the harness, but even though the harnesses all say "plug-n-play", they fail to mention the soldering involved. You have to solder or use crimp connectors to connect the HU harness with the harness that you bought. Once this is done, then it just plugs in. If you pull the HU to go back to stock, you just unplug the harness and plug the old HU back in.

I used a Metra harness. Do you have the Bose system currently or the base system?

That is because the factory radio uses the body of the vehicle as the ground and there is no ground wire in the factory wiring. Just attach your ground wire on your radio to bare metal on the vehicle. I used the support bar that is directly behind the gauges on the center console. Use a self tapping screw and a lock washer and you should be good. Good luck.

I've also got the Bose and I used the Metra 70-7551 which has RCA jacks to plug into the pre-outs.

Link is strictly for picture. You can get it for a whole lot less.

ok so another noob question. just wired my harness to all the matching colors and spec's, but i notice that i have an antenna control lead wire and on the 350z harness the blue wire is a power antenna...do i have to solder those two together since they are both blue? the instructions on the radio say "(motor antenna), this lead in not intended for use with switch actuated power antenna"....help? lol

my next question is my radio harness doesnt have a black/white wire which is the amp ground....there is just one black wire for radio ground.... i spliced into the black wire from the radio harness with the black/white wire from the kit?
will my amp work?

sorry if this is unclear but if you need more detail i will clear it up.

Thanks
Dan

I do believe that since you dont have a power antenna in the 350 i think that the blue wire is obsolete. I never hooked it up when i used to do installs. But dont quote me on that. its been about 6-7 years since my last install. As for the amp ground? i think the radio has its own and the amp has its own..(once again dont quote me)

Definitely wire the two antenna wires together. I thought the same thing that you did, but as stated above, it's for the antenna amp.

Grounds are grounds are grounds. If you're in doubt, just ground them to the screws at the bottom of the mounting bracket.

I would say test it. get everything hooked up except the blue. Turn it on and see if you get reception. if you dont, hook the blues up. Mind you dont put the HU in first unless the blue wires are to short. Make sure that none of the wires are touching each other or the chassis cuz you can fry your HU.

Did you not read any other persons post in this thread?

It may work but you won't get the best performance from your headunit. You need to provide a proper ground to your headunit. Hint: thats what the black wire is for.
Just hook the wires up.

It is a powered antenna that will get better reception if it the power antenna wire is connected. It wont move up and down like a power antenna your thinking of. Think of it as an FM reception booster.
