Question Need help buying a Mono amp for my subs

Pair of Alpine SWR-1022D (TYPE R)
# Peak Power Handling: 1500 watts each sub
# RMS Power Handling: 500 watts each sub
# Dual 2 Ohms Voice Coil Design

i have a 2 channel 1000W power acoustiks amp right now, i love P.A., but i think i need a mono amp for some good powerful bass (i dont run anything but the subs off of the amp)
so basically i need some help matching an amp to these subs.
I mainly listen to rap and some other genres that can be bass heavy, metallica, nickelback, stuff like that.
I really dont want to spend a lot of money on this, because the amp i have works fine, but any links or suggestions are welcome regarding mono amps. ive heard that as things go, rockford fostgate and kicker make GREAT amps

Thanks a lot guys!

Since there is not really a "budget" listed,,,,have you checked out the Alpine Vpower Mono amp's? They are great amps for the price. Again,,,just throwing something out there of decent quality. Check out www.woofersect.com They have each (Alpine V-power Amps) spec's listed and have decent prices. Again, just a thought. Or if you want to spend a little more,,,you could move up to the PDX line of Alpine Amps....Or check out the Elemental Designs ED amps....Quality Amps great price.....
Again,,,these are just a few suggestions of many brands...Hope this helps..

Sundown Audio makes some great amps at very reasonable prices. You can get a 1500W amp for only $425 which is a steal. BTW Power Acoustik does not put out anywhere near the advertised power.

So you have two 10's that are dual 2 ohms rated for 500W RMS, that's a weird impedance to run two subs. You either wire them for .5 ohms (parallel), 2ohms (series/parallel), or 8 ohms (series) which means you need 1000W at one of those impedances. The Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D can do 800W @ 2 ohms which should be enough to run those subs. Are you sure that Power Acoustiks amp isn't enough? What impedance are your subs wired for? Your Power Acoustiks amp must be bridgaeable as well.
