This write-up is quite old and a little dated but it pretty much sums up my opinion of Bose and their stranglehold on the general public. Yes, it applies to car audio too. Long but interesting read.

for the audio nuts here...go to avsforum.com and read about Bose. I was building a home theater room and was asking for advice on surround sound speakers. I thought Bose would be good cuz of their sieze..but i was quickly flamed, shot down, linched, etc. Bose never allows consumer reports to test their products...when they did, they sued.

I bought My fist home speakers in japan in the early 80s and they were the Bose 901s, the sound was just amazing coming from my $800.00 cd player. LOL Now look at them, I would not touch them for 1/10 the price I paid back then.
