Default Need Help--aftermarket Hu wiring problem

So I bought a dvd/cd HU and could not use the wiring harness that I bought for it. The person who owned it before me had broken the clips going into the stock unit and ghetto styled it back on, but when I pulled it out the wires kinda went everywhere. So I had to just splice the wires and run it that way. I found a wiring diagram, but can't seem to find where to plug in the dimmer wire, illumination wire or the audio shield wires. The aftermarket head unit's wire harness does not have a place for any of these. So it is causing a couple problems: my dash lights will not turn on, the "trip computer" will not turn on and the radio will not turn on. So does anyone know where I can piggy-back these wires? And please do not tell me to use the search button, I have spent 2 hours reading everything that I could before posting this. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I talked to a guy at a local shop here and he said the same thing. They felt pretty sure that it was a blow fuse. I found one that was blown, I replaced it and it didn't fix anything. I've made an appointment to just have it taken car of by them.

Good plan. In cases like this its good to let a prop work out any electrical problems. In the long run it'll save a lot of heartache!

Yeah, I spent five or six hours working on it. If I would have been thinking clearly I should have just spent that time earning money at work and paying someone else to do it right the first time!

I got it back today. Looks really good. Everything works just fine. I just wish I hadn't spent 5 hours f in around on my own. I was also pleased to find out that my sub isn't blown. It sounds great now. It was obviously getting a bad signal from my stock hu. So I am very happy.
