Custom subwoofer box
I just got a Z three days ago and am in the process of building a box for a single 12" alpine type x. I've never owned a hatch before so I was wondering where I should locate the vent/port. I'm going to locate the box all the way to the back of the car (against the rollbar.. thing?) with the sub facing upward (towards the glass/spoiler), where should I locate the 3" flared port?
Is it a good idea to put the port so the air is pushing against the back glass, or should I locate it so air is moving towards the side of the trunk? Does this even make a difference?
Any helps appreciated, thanks.

I actually built my own box also for a alpine 12'' type r. I built it to go right behind my back in front of the strut bar with the speaker facing inside out. It had like a 1 inch space between the rear window. Kinda hard to build I thought such little space.

A few things...
I would go 4" Aeroport or larger for the Type X. 3" will almost always give you port noise even if its flared. Slot ports are also extremely effective. Just make sure it is built to spec and you have at least 1000 watts to throw at it. Facing on the same plain (direction) is generally a good way to go for daily listening and sound quality.
