w7's..or any JL equipment for that matter is extremely overpriced. Dont get my wrong, they make quality equipment, but higher quality subs can be had at lower prices. I was running three of the MTX 9500 15" subs and the SPL output those subs have are amazing but the SQ just isnt quite there if you are a true audiophile. If your looking to get into the extreme SQ subs plan on spending some money. I have heard the RE XXX 15" and that is a very high quality subwoofer too.

If you give a approx price range I can find the best bang for your buck subs

everyone expects a single w7 to hit 180 db... its not a god sub but it is a very damn good sub. as far as quality and sound... they are great. you can find them cheaper, just be patient.

and for the love of god, get a custom enclosure... most of the douche bags who ***** about w7's are the dumba$$ kids who put them in prefab boxs that are too small for the speaker before you even consider displacement

a w7 12 in a good box in a z tuned properly will shake your head. you would need to turn it down to drive

No it won't. The W7 can play fairly loud but I have yet to see (or hear) it hit louder than 144 DB on a Termlab. A $300 DD 2515 will hit 148 DB and it will still sound great too.

It is a dissapointment. I have had two of them. I have made 6 enclosures for them too and they have never impressed me for SPL or SQ. I regret buying them.

Agreed. The RE XXX can get loud and sound fantastic. I haven't seen too many subs that can hit 142 DB at under 30 hz!

Those are all great subs. Add The DD 2515 and the 3515 to that list as well. Both great subs, relatively cheap, made in the USA, SPL monsters and SQ friendly.

I have had two 15" subs before. A Rockford Fosgate Power Series and a JL 15W6. I have to say the 15W6 was cleaner and really pounded. The Rockford Power Series was amazing too. If I had to do it again, I would go with JL.

A 15" in a Z.......

You might as well put 22" chrome wheels on your car too, since you seem to love overkill.
